Türkiye condemns Israeli strikes on Syrian air base

Türkiye has strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes on the Abu Duhur military air base in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province, calling them a violation of the country’s territorial integrity and unity.

The Foreign Ministry said the strikes were carried out early on Aug. 18 and targeted Syrian infrastructure and capabilities.

Israel continues its reckless attacks targeting Syria’s infrastructure and capabilities and violating its territorial integrity and unity,” the ministry said.

It called on the international community to take a firmer position to end what it described as Israel’s escalating aggression against Syria and ensure accountability for actions that disregard international law.

Syrian state media said eight strikes hit the base, causing material damage but no casualties.

The Israeli military did not comment on the attack.

Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran also condemned the strikes, saying they threatened Syria’s sovereignty as well as regional peace and stability.

Duran said Türkiye would continue to support Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and oppose attempts that threaten stability in the region.
