PKK kidnaps vehicle operators

BİTLİS - Anadolu Agency
Outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants kidnapped three construction vehicle operators in southeastern Tatvan, according to Anadolu Agency.

The PKK militants showed up at the site around 8:30 p.m. on July 9, and left the area with three vehicle operators who had been working at the construction site.

Security forces launched an operation after the kidnapping, and investigations to locate the kidnapped operators continue in the area.

Kidnappings have been occurring in the past months, but hostages are often released in line with the ongoing peace process.

Two engineers kidnapped by the PKK were released in the afternoon hours on June 27, five days after they had been taken from a stone quarry in the southeastern province of Bitlis.
