Mersin Music Festival starts April 10
MERSİN
The 18th Mersin International Music Festival kicks off on April 10. At a press conference, festival president Selma Yağcı said that the event will continue until May 2 in the southern province of Mersin.
The opening of the festival will be made by famous piano duo Güher and Süher Pekinel, Yağcı said, adding: “The festival will host many respected Turkish and foreign artists and bands. This festival is a festival for the people. We have all types of music that appeal to everyone.”
As part of the conference, Mersin University State Conservatory students İdil Olgar, 13, and Yahya Azimoğlu, 10, performed a mini concert on the violin and piano.
The opening concert of the festival will be organized today at 8 p.m. at the Mersin Cultural Center Opera Stage.
The Pekinel sisters will perform works by Mozart, accompanied by the İzmir State Opera and Ballet soloist Tevfik Rodos.
Three awards will also be presented at the opening ceremony of the festival.
