‘Mehter’ performs in famous Times Square

‘Mehter’ performs in famous Times Square

Members of the Turkish Armed Forces’ Ottoman military band, called “Mehter” in Turkish, performed traditional ceremonial music in New York’s iconic Times Square on June 8.

Organized by Turkish Consulate General in New York, the two-day Turkish day event was attended by Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gül, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yavuz Selim Kıran, Turkey’s Ambassador to the U.S. Serdar Kılıç, Turkey’s United Nations Permanent Representative Feridun Sinirlioğlu and Turkish Consul General in New York Alper Aktaş.
