Mariza, queen of fado to sing at İş Sanat Mariza, regarded as one of the most accomplished interpreters of Fado in the world, is coming to İş Sanat on May 7.

The Diva of Fado will be performing in advance of her new album that will be on the shelves this year. Her voice has been described as “breathtaking, passionate, emotive, profound and special…,” by some newspapers around the world. Mariza encountered huge success with her all-time bestselling album “Fado Em Mim,” released in 2001, which reached four-time platinum status. She became the definitive Fado star of the new generation when she collected three “Best Artist” awards at the BBC European World Music Awards.

Making history as the first Portuguese singer to be nominated for a Grammy Award, Mariza also won a Latin Grammy Award with her album “Terra” in the category of Best Folk Music. Named by the Guardian as the “Diva of World Music,” the singer has built an impressive career with over 1,000,000 records sold worldwide. Speaking about her music, Mariza said, “Fado is not just music but a sensation. Not sorrowful but melancholic. I did not choose this music, it is my destiny.”
