Five wounded as truck crashes into opposition party's convoy

Five people were wounded when a vehicle of the Republican People’s Party convoy collided with a truck in Turkey’s southern city of Mersin during election campaigning, Doğan news agency reported.The accident occurred in the morning around 11 a.m., when the CHP car crashed into a truck that was attempting a turn. Deputies traveling in the car, including Deputy Chairman Yakup Akkaya and Ankara provincial head Fahri Yıldırım, as well the as the driver, were all injured in the crash.
Police officers and medics arrived at the scene soon after, and the wounded were taken to the Mersin State Hospital. The truck driver was taken into custody.
The injured are now in a good condition, hospital officials told Doğan news agency.
