Avishai Cohen was inspired by the legendary pioneer in bass playing bassist Jaco Pastorius when he was 14 and decided to become a bassist. After couple of years, he altered his focus and started to study the upright bass. He said his first years as a musician were quite hard to get used to it. He played in parks, subways and streets to be with people and show his ability to them. After all of this, he continued to play in small bars. He attained the chance to move on with his musical life in a much better and different way when he met virtuoso pianist Chick Corea. Nowadays, Avishai Cohen is the owner of a record label called “Razdaz Recordz.” Cohen was always able charm his audience with his performances and is counted as a doyen. It should also be mentioned that Avishai Cohen is considered one of the 100 most influential bass players of the 20th century.
