Oktay Ekinci was laid to rest Oct. 17 after hundreds bade farewell to the famed writer and architect in a number of ceremonies held in his honor.

The first ceremony held for Ekinci, who died at the age of 61 due to a cerebral hemorrhage, was held at the Turkish Chamber of Architects, which he formerly headed.

His funeral was held after two other ceremonies were held, at the daily Cumhuriyet, which he wrote columns for from the 1980s, and at the Şişli mosque.
