Türkiye welcomed 27.86 million foreign visitors in the January-July period of 2026, down 2.29 percent from the same period a year earlier, according to data from the Culture and Tourism Ministry on Aug. 21.

Russia remained the largest source market during the first seven months of the year, with 3.67 million visitors, accounting for 13.16 percent of total foreign arrivals.

Germany ranked second with 3.41 million visitors and a 12.24 percent share, followed by the U.K. with 2.12 million visitors, representing 7.62 percent of the total.

Iran was the fourth-largest source market with 1.53 million visitors and a 5.49 percent share, while Bulgaria ranked fifth with 1.49 million visitors, accounting for 5.37 percent of arrivals.

Istanbul attracted the highest number of foreign visitors in the January-July period, receiving 10.54 million visitors, or 37.84 percent of all foreign arrivals.

Antalya followed with 7.76 million visitors and a 27.85 percent share. Edirne welcomed 2.46 million visitors, accounting for 8.83 percent of arrivals, while Muğla received 1.70 million visitors (6.11 percent) and İzmir 841,014 visitors (3.02 percent).

In July alone, the number of foreign visitors to Türkiye declined 0.27 percent year-on-year to 7.10 million.

Russian citizens accounted for 14.38 percent of all foreign arrivals during the month, with 1.02 million visitors.

Germany ranked second with 968,203 visitors and a 13.64 percent share, while the United Kingdom came third with 544,077 visitors, representing 7.67 percent of total arrivals.

Iran followed with 322,256 visitors and a 4.54 percent share, narrowly ahead of Poland, which sent 321,590 visitors and accounted for 4.53 percent of July arrivals.
