Turkish police seize 1.5 tons of drugs

More than 850 kilograms of heroin and 600 kilograms of hashish was caught. AA photoLaw enforcement officers seized nearly 1.5 tons of drugs and took 40 suspects into custody in landmark anti-narcotics operations in Turkey last week. More than 850 kilograms of heroin was reportedly intended to be carried to Europe in cans labeled as green peas by a company called “U.K. Export and Import Coop.” Police also seized nearly 600 kilograms of hashish. This was recorded as the highest amount of heroin seized in the last seven years in Turkey.
