Turkish government’s gross debt stands at $212 billion

Turkish central government’s gross debt stock stood at nearly 1.1 trillion Turkish liras (around $212 billion) as of Jan. 31, the Treasury and Finance Ministry announced on Feb. 20.
Some 586.2 billion liras of the debt stock is denominated in the Turkish lira, while 511.9 billion liras is in foreign currency.
The gross debt stock includes the outstanding debt of public sector institutions, the Central Bank, private companies, and households.
The ministry’s data showed that the stock of Treasury receivables reached 18.5 billion liras as of January-end.
At the end of 2018, the gross debt stock of Turkish government was 1.07 trillion liras, the ministry also said.
