Traffic police in the northwestern province of Edirne are set to ask for stricter regulations to motorcycle-based, fast-food delivery in the city on the grounds that it leads to dangerous driving in the rush to deliver orders on time.

Cemil Ceylan, chief of the Edirne traffic police department, said motorcycle use in the city had increased in recent years and that fast-food chains were especially using motorcycles for delivery.

“Especially pizza-selling restaurants have been making commercials saying they can deliver orders in 20 or 30 minutes. While trying to achieve it, they risk traffic safety; they are risking both their lives and those of others,” he said.

Ceylan also said they planned to take measures against firms that continue to promise such services.
