Golden Orange to hold Poetry Award events

Known as one of the most prestigious poetry awards in Turkey, the Golden Orange Poetry Awards ceremony and an accompanying symposium will begin March 15. The event, organized by Antalya Municipality and the Antalya Culture and Arts Association (AKSAV), will host prominent writers and poets through March 17.

Since the poetry symposium began, awards have been presented to 186 poets, writers, critics and representatives of Turkey’s cultural and arts scenes. AKSAV Board of Directors President Mustafa Akaydın said his organization had given the Golden Orange Poetry Award to 16 poets for far, and presented 15 symposiums. The honored guest of this year’s symposium will be Turkish writer Gülten Akın. Other poets, critics and writers in attendance in Antalya will include Doğan Hızlan, Cevat Çapan, Ahmet İnam, Mustafa Durak, Ahmet Telli, Haydar Ergülen, and Mahmut Temizyürek.

The Antalya Cultural Center will host a series of poetry readings, beginning March 15. On March 15 and 16, Akdeniz University will host panel discussions related to the symposium, focusing on the poems of 2011 and the work of Ahmet Telli.
