Türkiye’s annual consumer inflation eased to 29.73 percent in September from 31.51 percent in August, official data showed on Oct. 5, while the monthly increase came in below market expectations.
Consumer prices rose 1.84 percent from the previous month, unchanged from August’s monthly pace, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said.
Economists surveyed by AA Finance had expected prices to rise 2.18 percent on the month, bringing annual inflation to 30.16 percent.
The consumer price index increased 24.32 percent from the end of 2025, while inflation measured by the 12-month average stood at 31.49 percent.
Among the three expenditure groups with the largest weights in the index, annual prices rose 39.99 percent for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, 35.10 percent for transportation and 27.62 percent for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Food made the largest contribution to annual inflation at 6.73 percentage points, followed by transportation at 5.96 points and housing at 4.84 points.
