The cliffs are among the area’s most striking natural formations.
Reminiscent of the famous White Cliffs of Dover, the steep chalky formations of Harbiş Cliffs in the southern province of Adana’s Karataş district are drawing a wave of paragliding enthusiasts eager to soar over the Mediterranean shoreline.
Located about 3 kilometers from the district center, the cliffs are among the area’s most striking natural formations. Rising about 40 meters above the Mediterranean coast, the cliffs attract photographers as well as paragliders.
Paragliders haul their gear up to the radar tower atop the cliffs, prep their rigs, and launch into the sky. They soar along the coastline with sprawling Mediterranean views before touching down on the beach below.
Paraglider Kaderim Boyacı told state-run Anadolu Agency that the area offers an especially impressive view at sunset.
“It is a wonderful place. You can have enjoyable flights here. The view is incredible for a pilot,” Boyacı said.
Pilots can stay in the air for extended periods, she added.
“You can watch the lush green nature and deep blue sea and feel the clouds passing over you and even wetting you. There can be no better feeling,” she said.
Boyacı invited paragliding enthusiasts to visit the cliffs, saying she hoped the site would be further developed for tourism.
“Once we bring this place into tourism, we will no longer fly alone. We want to take visitors and tourists who come here on flights as well,” she said.
Paraglider Yusuf Coşkun said flying above the cliffs was highly enjoyable.
“It is a unique spot in Adana. Both its structure and scenery are perfect. It is extremely enjoyable,” Coşkun said, highlighting the area as an essential destination for adrenaline enthusiasts.
He said the endless sea and the long Harbiş Beach disappearing toward the horizon created an impressive backdrop.
“Flying at sunset was very enjoyable. I have added this place to my flight route and will come frequently,” he said.
