Weary Trabzonspor in hunt for home victory against Beşiktaş

All eyes will be on the Spor Toto Super League game on Nov. 27 as Trabzonspor takes on Beşiktaş at home.

Beşiktaş have been troubled by injuries in the run up to the game and Coach Carlos Carvalhal will miss Necip Uysal, especially as fitness of Portuguese midfielder, Simao Sabrosa.

There are also complications for Trabzonspor as the team battle with match fatigue after a grueling season. Hasan Yener, secretary general of Trabzonspor told reporters that the upcoming game against Beşiktaş would be “tough.” The club is coping with the “negative effects” of a busy season as a result of the new playoff system and Champions League games. “It is not easy,” he said.

There is speculation that this may give Beşiktaş an advantage, especially as they did not play a mid-week game. Yet Yener remains positive about the outcome of the upcoming match, saying he believed in the quality of the players, the tactical staff and supporters. Trabzonspor has the power to beat Beşiktaş at Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium,” he said. The Black Sea club has typically delivered strong results following Champion League games, Yener said. Performances like that against Kayserispor after CSKA Moscow the team “have proved that they can cope with fatigue.”

Following the game against Beşiktaş, Tabzonspor will travel to Lille to play their last Champions League group stage game away. They will need to secure a win after failing to beat Inter on Nov. 23. Meanwhile, Beşiktaş will be hoping to secure a good result in Trabzon to boost morale in preparation for a crucial Europa League game in Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Galatasaray plays Sivas

Third-placed Galatasaray will host Sivasspor on Saturday, hoping to win for the first time in its last three league games at home.

Galatasaray midfielders Yekta Kurtuluş and Sabri Sarıoğlu are out of action due to injuries, while Felipe Melo waits for the result of an appeal for him to play after he was suspended for a game by the federation’s disciplinary board for unprofessional behavior.

It will be the 13th time the clubs have played each other with the odds stacked in Galatsaray favor. They won seven of the past games while Sivas won only two.

 On Nov. 26 Samsunspor hosts Antalyaspor while Mersin İdman Yurdu travels to Orduspor.

For the games on Nov. 27, Istanbul BB takes on Gaziantepspor at home, Kayserispor visits Manisaspor and Eskişehirpsor plays Ankaragücü.
