Turkish prosecutor demands release of wife who killed attacker husband

ZONGULDAK – DHA
Turkish prosecutor demands release of wife who killed attacker husband A prosecutor has demanded that the court acquits a woman who killed her husband after he allegedly attacked her with a knife in the Black Sea province of Zonguldak.

The woman, only identified as A.E., suffocated her husband, identified as M.A.E., after he attacked her twice with a knife after coming home drunk. The prosecutor said in his legal opinion to the court that “the defendant should not be punished because she acted on instinct after being gripped by fear, in a situation where defense against the attack was necessary and the response to was proportional. “

A.E. faces up to 24 years in prison.

Lawyer Erdoğan Doğan said in his opinion during the case that M.A.E. had insulted his four children and wife on the night when he also attacked A.E. with a knife for no reason.

“The defendant pushed him to stop the attack, but the incident happened after he attempted to attack again,” Doğan said.

The court has postponed the ruling in the case to a later date.
