ANKARA - Anadolu AgencyTurkey’s air force carried out airstrikes on the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) bases in northern Iraq on two separate operations on March 18 and March 19, the military said.
In a statement on its website, the Turkish General Staff said 20 F-16 and F-4 jets bombed positions in the Sinat, Haftanin and Gara regions on March 18 night.
A total of 10 jets also hit the organization's bases in Gara in the early hours of March 19.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against Turkey in July. Since then, more than 290 members of the security forces and hundreds of PKK militants have been killed.
