Tire makers have high 2012 goals for recycling

LASDER, a consortium of tire giants like Brisa, Continental, Goodyear, Michelin and Pirelli, plans to recycle 113,000 tons of old tires in 2012, leading to a 33 million Turkish Liras economic gain. The five-year-old consortium of tire producers has recycled 173,000 tons of rubber tires to date.“We all know that recycling rubber tires has a high value added economic return,” said LASDER’s General Secretary Bahadır Ünsal.
LASDER has increased its recycling facilities from four to 18 over the past five years.
