Tattooed 'Maroon 5' frontman Adam Levine has been named People's "Sexiest Man Alive," the magazine revealed late Tuesday.

"As a musician, you have fantasies that you want to win Grammys, but I didn't really think that this was on the table," Levine, 34, told People.

"I was just amazed and stunned and it almost seemed like they were kidding, but they weren't, so that's cool." Maroon 5 celebrated the award with a tweet late Tuesday.

"Congrats to Adam for being named @peoplemag's 2013 Sexiest Man Alive' the Grammy-winning band wrote, linking to the magazine cover, at pic.twitter.com/BOnLSu4EGR.

The publicity comes at an auspicious time in the career of the busy singer, who has been branching out into the world of acting.

Levine made an appearance in the 2013 film "Can A Song Save Your Life?" with Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo.

He is making a foray into the fashion world with his own line of clothing for the Kmart department store chain, and recently started a men's fragrance line.

Levine, who is engaged to marry Victoria's Secret lingerie model Behati Prinsloo, is one of the judges on the hit US reality show "The Voice," television's latest quest to crown the next big pop singing sensation.
