One prisoner dead, another injured in jail fire in southeastern Turkey

A fire erupted in a jail in the southeastern province of Şırnak on Sept. 28, killing one prisoner and severely injuring another, while 12 employees working at the jail were also hospitalized.The fire, the cause of which is yet unconfirmed, erupted in the juvenile section of the prison and initially injured 14 people, including two prisoners who attempted to fight the flames.
While the injured were taken to hospital, one of the prisoners succumbed to his injuries and another was reported to be in critical condition. The 12 injured prison employees were, meanwhile, reported not be in critical condition.
