Number of Palestinians detained during ongoing clashes in Jerusalem
Sevil Erkuş - JERUSALEM
A number of Palestinians were detained by the Israeli authorities as clashes between protesters and security forces continued in eastern Jerusalem on Dec. 9.
Palestinian protesters gathered in eastern Jerusalem chanted against U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital and move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Israeli police intervened in the protesting crowd with tear gas and rubber bullets.
Two Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip earlier on Dec. 9, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
