Following a favorable court ruling, the İzmir Municipality will take over operations at the main intercity bus terminal from former operator İZOTAŞ, which had refused to vacate the facility despite the expiration of its 25-year lease.
İZOTAŞ had previously filed a lawsuit seeking a seven-year contract extension beyond its original 2023 expiration date, citing pandemic-related disruptions.
However, following a review by the court of appeals, an İzmir civil court of first instance lifted the preliminary injunction that was suspending the terminal’s eviction proceedings.
Once the eviction is finalized, the İzmir Municipality will assume full operational control and immediately begin renovation work to improve the facility’s physical conditions.
