Halted train services surprise passengers in Istanbul

Uninformed passengers were surprised on March 1 when they found Istanbul’s railroad on the European side completely closed as a part of the ongoing Marmaray renewal project.

Istanbul’s state railway closed the Kazlıçeşme – Halkalı track as of March 1 and trains were directed through Sirkeci.

However, hundreds of Istanbul residents who regularly use this train route were left unaware of the new regulation and forced to use city buses.

The Turkish State Railways project aims to transform suburban trains into a metro.
