Forest fire breaks out near touristic Devil’s Table in Turkey’s Ayvalık A forest fire broke out on Aug. 17 near the Devil’s Table in the Ayvalık district of the western province of Balıkesir.

The local directorate of forestry head, Metin Kırcı, told state-run Anadolu Agency that the cause of the fire was not immediately clear and two amphibious airplanes, six helicopters, 36 water sprinklers and three caterpillars were dispatched to the scene.

“The region is significant in terms of tourism. We are planning to take it under control before it threatens residential areas,” Kırcı said.
