Designing an alphabet with artists

ISTANBUL

Artist and designer John Pobojewski of the Chicago studio Thirst invites participants to join him in a collaborative workshop at Salt Galata to imagine a new alphabet of concepts universal to modern urban life, and which transcends language barriers. Each concept will be visualized using modern technology, including cell phone cameras and Kinect motion capture.

At the workshop’s conclusion, software written by the artist will abstract each image in fast forward. The artist will use these forms and the concepts discussed as subject matter for a short self-published folio. Both the presentation and the workshop will be held in English.
