Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli said on Oct. 10 there would be no turning back in Türkiye's anti-terror initiative, calling for solidarity and the establishment of institutions envisaged under the law.
Speaking after the opening of the party's 24th Politics and Leadership School, Bahçeli said the initiative had become state policy, with work continuing through the executive, legislature and judiciary.
Parliamentary commissions had been formed and legislation had received broad support, he said, calling for relevant bodies to begin operating.
Bahçeli reiterated his call for the prisoner held on İmralı island to receive a coordination role in the peace process. Granting the role would support disarmament and public backing for the policy, he said.
Responding to a question about ministers targeted in a fund investigation, Bahçeli criticized accusations made before legal inquiries reached a conclusion. Any crime should be addressed, he said, urging patience and restraint in political debate.
Bahçeli said President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was pursuing the initiative with Parliament and reaffirmed his party's commitment. He also thanked the school's participants and academics and praised a march prepared for Republic Day on Oct. 29.
