Beşiktaş comes back to beat minnow Ofspor in cup clash

Beşiktaş had to come from behind to beat third-tier club Ofspor in the Ziraat Turkish Cup third round. DHA photoBeşiktaş brought its two star players to beat third-tier Ofspor in the Ziraat Turkish Cup on Oct. 31. The nine-time competition winner rallied to beat minnow League Two side 2-1 and advanced to the fourth round of the Turkish Cup.
Gökhan Durmuş gave the lead for Ofspor in the eighth minute against a Beşiktaş side that played with many reserve players.
However, Coach Samet Aybaba brought in Manuel Fernandes and Hugo Almeida in the start of the second half and the two Portuguese stars did their part to turn things around. Fernandes scored from a free kick in the 66th minute, while Almeida headed the ball in the 74th minute to win the tie for Beşiktaş.
In other top-flight teams’ cup ties, Gençlerbirliği eased through Tepecikspor 3-1, Sivasspor beat Güngörenspor 2-0 and Mersin İdman Yurdu beat Giresunspor 3-0. A relegation battler in the Spor Toto Super League, Akhisar’s cup campaign came to an end, however, as it lost 1-0 to Tokatspor.
The third round of the cup will be wrapped up with four matches on Nov. 7 and 8.
