16 PKK militants killed in two separate operations

At least 16 outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were killed in counter-terrorism operations in northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey on Sept. 27, according to a statement issued by the Turkish General Staff.
Warplanes carried out an airstrike in northern Iraq against PKK militants, the statement said. In the northern Iraq operation, 13 PKK militants who were understood to have been plotting an attack were reported to be killed.
The warplanes that took part in the operation arrived safely to their base, the statement read.
In another operation in the Çukurca district of the southeastern province of Hakkari, three PKK militants were killed after they were spotted by unmanned aerial vehicles, the Hakkari Governor’s Office stated.
The investigation into the incident has been ongoing, according to the statement.
