Special tax revenues hit 64 billion liras

Special consumption tax (SCT) revenue in 2011 amounted to 64.2 billion Turkish Liras, according to Finance Ministry data compiled by Anatolia news agency staff.

Some 15.9 billion liras of tax came from tobacco products and 3.9 billion liras were collected from liquor sales. Oil and gas products contributed 33.6 billion liras to SCT revenues.

The SIT collected from motor vehicle sales was 8.6 billion liras, surpassing a projection of 6 billion liras.
Special communication tax revenues from telephone calls totaled 4.4 billion liras. Games of chance generated 528 million liras of SCT revenue.

Meanwhile the total amount of fines for 2011 surpassed 40 billion liras. Some 34.6 billion liras of fines came from tax penalties.
