Famous Italian pop diva Ornella Vanoni will debut in Istanbul at İş Sanat on Jan. 27 as part of her Ultimate Tour celebrating her 80th birthday.

Vanoni is one of the most popular female singers of Italy, bringing sophistication to Italian pop music. Though she started her career as an actress on stages in the 1960’s, Vanoni became popular for her interpretation of folk songs and popular compositions in a very unique style.

She had her first breakthrough in 1963 with her unforgettable songs “Senza Fine” and “Che cosa c’è” written by Gino Paoli. After winning first prize at the Neapolitan Song Festival, she became a superstar and continued to win various song contests, such as the Sanremo Festival.

When her 1970’s hit “L’Appuntamento” was used on the soundtrack of the famous Hollywood movie “Ocean’s Twelve,” Vanoni experienced another wave of fame and her song “Perduto” once again became an international hit, with its remix hitting the itunes chart as a worldwide number one hit in 2009.
Vanoni’s songs have been covered in Turkish by pop singers Ajda Pekkan and Nükhet Duru.
