Clashes occurred between students and police at Middle East Technical University (ODTU) before the Göktürk-2 satellite launching ceremony in the nation’s capital, Ankara, daily Hurriyet has reported.

Police reportedly used pepper gas and pressurized water against left-wing students who were not allowed to approach the ceremony hall.

Turkey will launch its Göktürk-2 satellite into space from China this evening.
