Baykal to go to Baghdad

The official invitation was delivered to the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday. The letter was then sent to the opposition party’’s head office through the Foreign Ministry.Baykal discussed the invitation in the CHP’s board meeting yesterday, Anatolia news agency reported. Baykal and other party members said the invitation was significant. The party will contact the Foreign Ministry about scheduling the visit.
"My dear friend, I will be happy to see you in Iraq at a suitable time for you in order to improve the deep and extensive relations between the two friend countries," read the letter addressing Baykal, daily Radikal reported yesterday. "You may meet our legislative and executive organs as well as exchange opinions with the political party leaders during your visit."Party members discussed in the board meeting that the CHP’s policy about Iraq has been to maintain good relations. But party members also said Iraq should oppose the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK.
