Automotive production in Turkey down 10 pct

Automotive production in Turkey was down 10 percent year-on-year between January and April 2012. According to figures released by the Automotive Industry Association (OSD), Turkey’s automotive production was down 10 percent and car manufacturing was down 16 percent year-on-year in the period between January and April 2012.

Overall automotive production was 209,000 and car production was 143,000 in the mentioned period. Turkish-made automobile sales were down 18 percent, while the decrease in imported automobile sales was 19 percent year-on-year between January and April 2012.

Moreover, Turkey’s automotive exports were down 8 percent and the decrease in car exports was 9 percent in the same period. Turkey exported 262,000 automotive products and 148,000 cars between January and April 2012.
