BERLIN - Anatolia News Agency
There are still 13.2 billion Deustche Marks (6.75 euros) in circulation, despite Germany adopting the euro 11 years ago when the European Union took on the currency, according to data revealed by German Central Bank (Bundesbank).

Bundesbank stated that there were 171 million banknotes and 23.7 billion coins in circulation with a value of 13.2 billion marks in total.

The people find marks mostly when they move out of their homes or after elderly relatives pass away, Bundesbank said.

After a woman died, her daughter found the banknotes of 1,000 marks that needled in curtain. Another person explained that after his grandparents died he found marks behind the wallpaper.
Bundesbank claims that the substantial amount of marks could also be in circulation abroad.
