Turkish Journalist Association condemns attack on columnists

ISTANBUL
Turkish Journalist Association condemns attack on columnists The Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) has criticized the country’s stance against freedom of expression, defining the prime minister’s remarks against some columnists as an attack against the freedom of information.

“We regard the defamation campaign against our colleagues some columnists including Yazgülü Aldoğan, Yılmaz Özdil and Melis Alphan as another way of violating freedom of press and expression,” the TGC said in a statement May 26.

“We take the threatening and insulting remarks of Prime Minister [Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan against the columnist that he does not like as an attack on the freedom of information and press,” said the TGC.
