Almost 150 people have complained to police in Turkey on the grounds that their characters in the Knight Online and Metin2 multi-player role-playing games were stolen, daily Hürriyet reported.

Police tracked IP addresses and eventually detained 70 people, some of whom were reported to be hackers, in connection to the case.

“I paid 20,000 Turkish Liras to improve my character, but now I cannot connect with my character,” one gamer said.

Police officers said hackers were either trying to usurp characters for their own use, or were hoping to gain control of characters for the purposes of selling them onto other gamers.
