Rizespor, Ankaragücü advance to Super League

Ankaragücü and Rizespor both secured promotion to Turkey’s Super League on April 28 after beating their opponents in the second-tier 1st League.
Ankaragücü defeated already relegated Manisaspor 3-0 to increase its points total 62, four above than Ümraniyespor, the Istanbul team that lost to champion Rizespor 1-0.
Rizespor increased its points total to 66, guaranteeing its top spot in the league and booking its ticket to Turkey’s top tier next season.
Rizespor’s promotion comes one season after it was relegated from the Super League last year.
Ankaragücü, meanwhile, will be returning to the Super League after a six-year break.
