President Erdoğan visits Mecca for pilgrimage
JEDDAH - Anandolu AgencyTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has performed the Umrah pilgrimage by visiting the holy city of Mecca and its Masjid al-Haram in Saudi Arabia.
Erdoğan arrived in Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport on Feb. 28, where he was welcomed by Governor Bin Macit and Turkish Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Yusun Demir.
He was accompanied by his wife Emine Erdoğan, Deputy Prime Ministers Yalçın Akdoğan and Numan Kurtulmuş, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekçi, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, journalists and businessmen.
After completing his visit to Mecca, Erdoğan will head to Saudi capital Riyadh on March 2, to meet the new King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud.
