AA PhotoEleven suspects were arrested on March 15 in Turkey’s northeastern province of Giresun and southeastern province of Batman on suspicion of having links to a terrorist organization.
Giresun and Batman counter-terrorism police detained a total of 26 suspects and later released five. Another nine suspects were also released under judicial control after a prosecutor’s interrogation.
The court ruled for the arrest of the remaining 11 over opposition to the anti-terror law, forming an armed organization, being a member of an armed organization, and making terrorist propaganda.
In addition, seven suspects, including a provincial co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), were detained on March 14 in the Central Anatolian province of Konya for allegedly calling on the public to clash with security forces by making terrorist propaganda on social media.
