Prosecutor in eastern Turkey dies after gun attack

A public prosecutor in the eastern province of Tunceli has died after being severely wounded in a gun attack yesterday.
 
Prosecutor Murat Uzun was shot in the head by a suspected member of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) as he walked home in Tunceli's Ovacık district. He was taken to a hospital in nearby Elazığ province, where he remained in intensive care.
 
Elazığ Chief Public Prosecutor Musa Çatal confirmed news of Uzun's death, daily Hürriyet reported. Uzun was married and had two children.
 
The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
