Man kills ex-wife over spurned efforts to reconcile

MUĞLA - Doğan News Agency
A man has confessed to stabbing his wife to death in the Aegean province of Muğla, repeatedly striking her in the chest, abdomen, throat and genitals.

Muazzez Mutlu, 32, refused to reconcile with her husband following their divorce nine years prior to the murder, allegedly leading her husband to stab her over 30 times in various body parts, including her genitals, leaving her critically wounded.

Ç.I. subsequently turned himself in at a local police station, prompting immediate medical assistance to be sent to the crime scene. Mutlu, however, was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Ç.I. and Muazzez married 14 years ago before divorcing several years later. The suspect had been attempting to reconcile for years, according to Doğan news agency.

Muazzez’s body was taken to the Muğla Forensic Medicine Institution amid a continuing investigation into the slaying.
