Love affair between man and mother-in-law results in murder

A man who had an affair with his mother-in-law in Ankara, killed his wife’s uncle during a brawl that erupted after their relationship was discovered.
The affair was discovered by the 41-year-old woman’s son on March 17, 2017, who secretly accessed her Facebook account and read the sexually explicit exchange of messages between his mother and his sister’s husband, 27.
After learning of their relationship, the son threatened to kill his sister’s husband. The man ran away from their mutual home, where he and his wife and children had been living together with his brother-in-law and mother-in-law.
“My mother-in-law had sex with me out of her own free will in February 2017. One day, when I was at home, my mother-in-law called me and said her son had learned of the relationship between us and that he would kill me. Minutes later, he also called me and threatened to kill me. So, I left the home. I have kept a low-profile for two weeks. Then, my wife called me and said she missed me. So, I returned to our home,” the man said in his testimony.
The brother-in-law and his uncle then confronted his sister’s husband after noticing he had returned to their home. When a brawl erupted during their confrontation, the man shot the uncle with a gun, killing him on March 26, 2017.
An Ankara court ordered the man’s arrest, who had been detained for “voluntary manslaughter.”
Meanwhile, the young woman, 21, testified that her mother had been extremely happy in the weeks following up to the murder.
“My mother had been very happy when she came to breakfast [after sleeping with him]. I had been surprised she had been so happy, because my father had been dead for two months. The next morning, my husband had sent messages to her, asking her how she had felt about the previous night. My mother responded, telling him she had felt very well. My older brother had read the messages,” she said.
Moreover, the mother said she had slept with her son-in-law because he had threatened her.
“I agreed to have sex with him because I was afraid he would harm my son and daughter since he possessed a gun. He had not used any force before or after we had sex. He did not beat me,” she said in her testimony.
