Beşiktaş fan and British envoy to Turkey drapes flag over embassy to celebrate league title
ANKARAU.K. Ambassador to Ankara Richard Moore, a die-hard fan of Beşiktaş, has once again draped the embassy building in Ankara in the team’s colors to celebrate the Black Eagles’ 15th league title.
Like last season, Moore once again performed the club’s eagle claw salute in front of the team’s flag on the balcony of the embassy building.
“Richard Moore lived in Turkey between 1990 and 1992 and between 2014 and 2017. Beşiktaş was the champion in five of those six years. Is that a coincidence? Is that not [suspicious]?” Moore tweeted in Turkish.
Moore was posted in Turkey from 1990 to 1992, and has served as the U.K.’s ambassador to Turkey since January 2014.
