A Browning handgun that was custom-made for modern Turkey's founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is now on the market for a price of 72,000 Turkish Liras, private broadcaster NTV has reported.

Golden letters spell "General Mustafa Kemal" on the gun, which was made as a present to Atatürk from the then-Argentinean President Marcelo Torcuato de Alvear, but officials are not sure whether the weapon ever reached its destination.

The gun will be sold at a Christie's auction on Sept. 26 in London.
