‘Zeus song’ for Turkey’s Greek football star goes viral

A video showing Greek football player Theofanis Gekas celebrating his latest victory in Turkey has gone viral on Turkish social media, as Turks discovered “the Zeus song.”Gekas, a seasoned striker for the club Akhisar, scored a double against Fenerbahçe on Sept. 28 in a 2-0 victory in the Spor Toto Super League, increasing his goal tally to six in four games and taking Akhisar to the top of the league standings.
After the latest victory, a video that was apparently shot in the Akhisar locker room two years ago after the underdog club secured its status in Turkey’s top league surfaced before going viral on Sept. 29.
Gekas is seen in the video dancing with Greek and Turkish moves while singing a song with his teammates that was written for him by Akhisar supporters.
