VIDEO: Turkish motorcycle rider runs amok after police fine

The incident took place in the Seyhan district of the province of Adana on Nov. 4.

A motorcycle driver in southern Turkey has been briefly detained for terrorizing the street after becoming infuriated by a police fine.

The police stopped the motorcycle in the Seyhan district of the province of Adana on Nov. 4 as the man, identified as 37-year-old E.Ü., was spotted driving without a helmet. During the check, the police discovered that the vehicle was also not registered, which resulted in a hefty fine.

Infuriated by the fine, E.Ü. began attacking his motorcycle with a knife and then threatened the police officers who surrounded him. Despite the immediate danger, the police only used batons and ultimately managed to handcuff the attacker.

E.Ü., who intentionally cut himself during the episode of rage, was sent to Çukurova State Hospital for treatment. He has been released on probation pending trial.
