Türkiye’s auto market contracts nearly 13 percent in March

Türkiye’s automobile and light commercial vehicle market shrank by 12.75 percent in March compared with the same month of 2025, totaling 101,997 units, according to data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD).

 

Passenger car sales fell 13.04 percent year-on-year to 79,857 units, while the light commercial vehicle market declined 11.69 percent to 22,140 units. Despite the contraction, passenger car sales were 24.3 percent higher than the 10-year March average.

 

Electric vehicle (EV) sales rose 17.4 percent year-on-year to 15,118 units in March, accounting for 18.9 percent of total sales. In the January–March period, 38,420 EVs were sold, representing a 29.9 percent increase compared with the same period last year.

 

Domestic EV brand Togg, which launched its new model late last year, recorded 4,440 sales in March. Its deliveries in the first two months of 2026 reached 20,524. Tesla sold 935 vehicles in March and 2,145 in the January–March period.

 

Overall, Türkiye’s automobile and light commercial vehicle market contracted 3.94 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same period of 2025, totaling 265,398 units.

 

Passenger car sales declined 5.86 percent to 210,688 units, while the light commercial vehicle market grew 4.23 percent to 54,710 units.
