Fashion photographer David Natu died Feb. 25 after a traffic accident that happened on Jan 22 in Columbia.

Turkish fashion photographer David Natu, who was living in the United States, died Feb. 25.

A written statement made by Natu’s team and colleagues, said, “Natu, was heavily injured in a traffic accident on Jan. 22 in Colombia and had been treated for three weeks before passing away. As his team and colleagues, we feel deep sorrow.”

The statement also added that Natu would be buried on March 3 in his place of birth, the Aegean province of İzmir.

In late January, Natu ranked high on the list of the world’s 10 best photographers, making his way to second spot.

Internet users who voted for Natu left comments such as “the best Turkish photographer,” “Natu’s photographs are creative and influential” and “the best portrait photographer.”

Natu’s passion for photography began when he was given a Philippe Monges book for a present. Natu studied photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York, where he also assisted renowned fashion photographer Steven Klein. He later worked for Italian photographer Massimo Mintuare.
