A senior deputy of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Emrullah İşler, is paying his second visit to Libya in his capacity as Turkey’s special representative to the country, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on Nov. 3.

İşler was set to visit the Libyan city of Bayda on Nov. 3, after his delegation was unable to visit Bayda during a previous visit on Oct. 20-21.

Amid the turmoil that continues to roil Libya, İşler was set to meet with the prime minister and foreign minister of the government of Libya’s House of Representatives, along with other local authorities.

The statement said the visit was within Turkey’s official framework of “keeping dialogue channels open with all parties in Libya and aimed to contribute to efforts for truce, dialogue and reconciliation.”
